You might think this all sounds insane. “Why is this person going so crazy over a pro or expert poker set? That total poker set probably cost Mark a lot of money. Why not buy some cards and plastic chips down at the local Dollar Tree store you ask? Well my friend that is sort of like being a guy that collects exotic cars and offering him a Honda Civic for his collection of exotic cars. It is like comparing apples to bananas when it comes time to play the actual game of poker.
The fact of the matter is that I really like poker, and I really like the atmosphere of a betting casino. I really like the concept of putting that actual casino atmosphere into the comfort and convenience of your own home. I don’t believe in going inexpensive. Saving money is one factor, but going inexpensive is something else entirely. Cheap things deteriorate quickly, and are not worth it. You know the old saying “you get what you pay for.” This holds true for professional poker sets too.
An expert poker set shows that you have a mind-set that you take the game of poker very seriously. If you’re getting together with buddies for an evening, you want to enjoy that poker game of poker as much as possible. You want to remember it years later. You don’t buy inexpensive alcohol; you buy the excellent items like Heineken or Beck’s Dark.(Yeah, I realize some people like Budweiser, and as long as that type of beer is what they consider top quality then that is all that matters. But I’m getting off track.) You might even break out some whiskey or brandy. You will throw into the mix some excellent Cubans or Colombian cigars. Maybe you will crank some tunes on your iPod touch for them to listen to. You serve up some awesome hot food (you know, the type that you don’t find in the healthy food section of the supermarket). Then you will sit at an awesome looking poker table, drinking top shelf drinks, and playing poker using a professional poker set. That’s just how it is.
See, if you’re going to host poker night at your home, you have to make the night magical. Give your buddies the complete casino experience. This includes playing with a professional poker set. It’s more than worth it. Don’t sell yourself short or you will end up completely regretting it.
